Two day adventure
Michael hosted me and my mom on amazing two day adventure on our first trip to Oahu. His love for Hawaii is palpable and he wants you to love it too. He went above and beyond making a special trip for us even presenting us with fresh leis on the second day. I highly recommend you tour with him. I hope to come back to Oahu someday and see him again. He is an amazing human.

Fantastic job touring us
Michael did a fantastic job touring us around. He hit all the points and then some as a guide and driver. Safe driver, courteous, hustled to open doors and set out the steps, was familiar with Oahu enough to change course at a moments notice, legally parked in all the places we stopped, respectful of other tours, culture, our crazy and fun group. To top it all off, his Hawaiian language skills are excellent. He pronounced everything correctly, knew and shared history and legends of places. He also supports other small businesses without being pushy about where you need to go, and has the inside scoops on clean bathrooms. Highly recommended and would absolutely hire Michael again.

Great time on our tour.
Had a great time on our tour. Michael showed us everything we wanted to see, waterfalls, pearl harbor, he shared awesome history throughout the day. We even stopped by Giovannis food truck for lunch.. ( my bucket list). It was amazing and I highly recommend using Halia tours!!!!!

Had an amazing time
We had an amazing time with Michael on a full day North Shore Tour. He was very knowledgeable of Hawaiian history and culture and was fantastic with engaging our kids as well. 3 day tour.
3 Day Tour. Michael went above and beyond with our family of 5. He made sure we all got to see something on each of our lists. We had lots of fun. He even personally walked me up and down Diamond Head. His knowledge of Oahu and his connections with people throughout the island was great. Would definitely visit Oahu with Michael again.

Did not want the day to end
BOOK IT !!!!!!!! last day on the islands, and a perfect end. Michael is amazing. Not a bad moment from start to end. His knowledge is extensive without being “lecturing”. Personable, friendly, funny, and willing to accommodate anything and everything (as long as it was safe and legal!) Did not want the day to end, but left feeling we had spent the day with a friend, not a guide. Mahalo Nui!

Level of service that is second to none.
Our Tour guide, Michael, was incredible. My family had 8 hours to spend between leaving our cruise ship and our flight from Honolulu. We booked a custom tour with Michael. The best decision ever!
I highly recommend Halia Tours and Transportation for your circle island tour! I booked the the long day private circle island tour for our girls trip and it was the best decision ever! I love that we were able to customize our itinerary to see and do the things we wanted to do most as a group! But what truly made our trip a memorable one was our tour guide Michael! He was professional, knowledgeable, personable and so much fun! He not only told us about The island’s highlights but also had us laughing along the way! I also love how he helped us out of the van each time we made a stop!! He was such a gentleman! What a big day we had, we finally took the tour which we had booked in 2019 before the world came crashing down.
I am so grateful that l booked this tour with Halia Tours and Transportation . Michael took care of us from the minute he picked us up, this man is a gentleman and was so attentive and accommodating to all our needs. We felt like Michael was a friend to us, someone we’ve known for years, so much infact that we were left emotional saying goodbye and ending our 12 hr day together.

Helped us along the way
Michael is absolutely incredible! We had a member of our group begin to feel unwell the day before our tour. Michael went out of his way to help us find an at-home COVID test, he gave us one of his personal tests, delivered it to our hotel, and refused to allow me to pay for it. It was unfortunately positive for COVID…he then helped us navigate the travel restrictions to get us home safely. Unfortunately, we were unable to take the planned tour, but Michael helped us along the way on his own time. He is genuinely one of the kindest people we have ever met!!! My wife, who is the one that had COVID is already planning our next trip here, mainly to “pay back” Michael for his kindness. I cannot stress enough how much this means to us!

Worth every penny!
Fantastic service. Michael improved our experience in Hawaii in ways we could never have found on our own. We never waited in any line. In three days, we were able to hit every “must do” activity” on the island. This was worth every penny! You won’t find a better guide!

Spent the entire day exploring Oahu
My husband and I started our honeymoon off with Michael on the full circle tour. We spent the entire day exploring Oahu and learning about the history, culture, cuisine and present day Oahu (also other islands). Michael had us pick a few must-do’s so we settled on finding the best food trucks, views, pineapple farms, Waimea Valley, etc. We really enjoyed Michael’s insights and direction on the best places to go given time and season. We highly recommend Michael’s full circle tour. Do not miss out! Michael was even generous to give us tips for the remainder of our trip. P.s. Michael knows where to find the best poke bowls and garlic shrimp!

Wow! Where do I begin?
Wow! Where do I begin? We did the private full island tour and it did not disappoint. Michael was incredible. He contacted me several times to ask questions and verify what we were looking for in this tour and he provided everything and more. He picked us up on time from our hotel, brought us warm malasadas to try (delicious), and went over our itinerary for the day. We were able to visit all the places on our list, from Sunset Beach to Pali lookout, Byodo-in-Temple to Matsumoto shave ice. We went to the Halona blowhole and for lunch he suggested this cool place with food trucks that had all kinds of local goodness to choose from. It was great not having to worry about parking or entry tickets as Michael took care of all of this. He never rushed us through any of the sites, and everywhere we went people acknowledged him fondly. He gave us a lot of history about the island and it’s people and culture. My husband especially enjoyed that as he loves to learn all he can about the places we travel to. At the end, we were able to do some shopping and eat dinner. Overall, it was the best time and worth every bit of the cost. If you have the opportunity to take this tour, do so. Michael was a wealth of knowledge, easy to talk to and a lot of fun. Thanks Michael for one of the best memories of our trip to Oahu!

Best tour guide
Michael Waters was the best tour guide back in June of 2018 when we come to HI for the first time for our kids graduation. He was so pleasant and caring. He took his time with explaining the town and history. When it come time for getting into the ocean, he stayed with me as I’m terrified of the ocean. He gave me the courage to get in and see the sea turtles. Cannot wait to have him as our tour guide in December.

By far the best day I had!
This was the highlight of my two week honeymoon!!!!!! My husband and I did various tours in Maui and Honolulu and this was by far the best day I had! Michael is AWESOME! He is laid back, full of knowledge about the Island, funny, helpful, great driver (always felt safe) and just an overall great guy. He also knows a lot of people and went the extra mile to find out some information for us for another excursion we had booked. I can’t stress enough how much better it is to have a private tour guide; it was worth every penny. Michael always got back to us with any questions prior to the trip and picked us up promptly the day of. We had some things we wanted to do, but we also let him pick some places (including local spots which is always the best) and we truly had a blast. We saw so many beautiful sights and ate great food! Even with some Covid restrictions, we did not feel slighted in any way because Michael made sure we did everything we wanted to and had the best time. We finished the night off getting some malasadas and he even had a bag warmer to keep them warm for us (he pulled out the cooler too for all the food we brought back). AWESOME time! If you are between a private tour or group tour please do this! It is worth the experience-you spend as much or as little time in the various spots you go! Thank you so much for the tour!!!!

Did not feel rushed in any way
This review is long overdue. We were on Oahu in April 2021 just as the islands were fully reopening. I was lucky to have booked our private tour with Mike on our first full day there. We wanted to see everything that we could and he catered our tour to ensure we saw all the key points of the island. We learned a lot about the history of the islands, nature, customs, and traditions. We did not feel rushed in anyway and in fact we ran over our scheduled time but he did not charge us extra. I would book him again in the future even just to have the company!

Great for our family tour.
Michael called several days in advance to get an idea of activities and sites we wanted to see, and then the day before to see if anything had changed. Very prompt on pickup, and immediately we knew he was going to be great for our family tour. Michael was very knowledgeable of the island, culture, people and history. He was a very good driver and we felt safe. His suggestions of places to stop, activities and food were spot on. If nothing else, this tour was worth not having to find our own parking and deal with the in and out. We were dropped off at the door for most places. After doing this for years, Michael is loved by the locals and we saw firsthand the great relationship he has with everyone. We enjoyed ourselves and will do this again when we come back. Well worth the money you spend for the tour itself.

Came to the aid of our local Preschool
Michael and Halia Tours came to the Aid of our local Preschool in need of transportation for our graduating class trip!! We do not have enough school buses to go around and securing transportation for schools can be tough. Every year it is planned that those Keiki going on to Kindergarten the following year, get a special excursion to the Polynesian Cultural Center. When 2019’s class couldn’t get a bus due to no availability, Halia Tours came to our rescue and saved the day! Not only did we get transportation but having an official island guide on the most scenic drive on the island was more than we could have expected. Michael quizzed our class about what landmarks they saw out their windows and he shared the stories of the land the whole way. The kids reciprocated by singing songs from Moana. We love you Uncle Michael. Thank you for being there for us – a true blessing to our community. Mahalo and Aloha!

Recommend Halia Tours to everyone!
We did a 9hr Private Community Service Tour with Michael of Hali’a Tours. It was the most amazing day where my family, which includes boys aged 9 and 15yrs, gained so much more than we’d anticipated. Michael was attentive, a great conversationalist and story-teller, and shared so much knowledge on local culture, history, folklore, language and more. The family’s favourite part of the day was the community service component where we help pick up micro-plastics from the beach – a great way to help teach your children humility and respect for the environment and locality of our holiday destination. The tour represented excellent value for money as our 9hr Tour ended up being almost 12hours without any additional cost, we covered our wishlist at our own pace, we got to sample so much local foods which we especially wanted to do, and got to “give back” as well. We cannot wait to come back to Hawaii and to book our next Private/custom tour with Michael and Hali’a Tours. I would not hesitate to recommend Hali’a Tours to everyone!

Where to start.. Michael Waters is a great tour guide.. extremely knowledgable in the local culture and knows where the good places are. First I wanted to tell you to ask him to take you to the small little fruit nursery to meet the mad scientist and taste his baby pineapples.. you wont believe how good they are.. he also took us to Kahana Beach were he performed a short ceremony for our vow renewal.. actually 3 of the four couples did this.. it was our 30th anniversary. He went over and above and actually made the girls a little bouquet and got us all lei’s for the ceremony. He took us places that big Tours cannot go on. Michael.. you are part of our Ohana now… I wish you the best of everything in the future… you deserve it sir. We had a great time the whole 13 hours we were gone. Mahalo Nui Loa for all your genuine hospitality sir. You are a class act and proved that to me when the little confrontation happened on the North Shore.
If you want a great time.. Pick Halia Tours.. this guy rocks.
I do promise if we come back to this island.. we will do the cleanup tour with you… show that person.. there is no disrespect from these two tourist to the Hawaiian culture or the locals that live here.. Mahalo Nui Loa Michael.

Excellent job.
Mike did an excellent job. He understood what we wanted to see and guided us to the spots that we thought were valuable for us to see. He explained the history and we found him very knowledgeable. We were 9a group of 9 ranging in age from 4 years to 69 that included grand children and grand parents with parents. We all had a great sight seeing. Only constructive comment I can write is that he could hold down the extensive details and allow time to rest with a full 10 hour day during long drives.

Michael Waters and Halia Tours are the ultimate. Michael was the most gracious host we have ever encountered. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the history of Hawaii, he knew all the best spots to go (both tourist and non-tourist locations). He was very accommodating and willing to change our itinerary as the day went along. We spent 3 AMAZING days with Michael and did more in those 3 days than we could’ve even imagined. From snorkeling with turtles, watching amazing waves at Sandy Beach, swimming at Waiamea Falls, visiting several coffee farms and macadamia nut farms, the Dole Plantation, a sugar cane rum distillery, Giovanni’s shrimp truck, Matsumoto Shave Ice, North Shore, South Shore, snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, Leonard’s Bakery, Penny’s Malasadas, Polynesian Cultural Center, and a full-on food tour of some of the best food on the island. There are not enough amazing words to say about Michael and Halia Tours. This was the trip of a lifetime…one I will never forget. We can’t wait until we can get back to the islands and explore more of this beautiful land with an amazing person. Halia Tours is one to not be missed.

Michael was amazing, he showed us so much of this beautiful island, gorgeous beaches , whales, turtles, pineapple plantation, orchid nursery and so much more, he gave us information on local restaurants and took us to great food trucks for lunch on the north shore. Everything we wanted and more
We saw the whole island and did everything we wanted and more in just one day! Mike is extremely knowledgeable about everything and anything Hawaii! He even comes with free jokes at no extra charge! We mentioned broad things like waterfalls, ocean views, Jurassic Park and Mike knew exactly where to take us. We would have never been able to visit all the places we did on our own. We visited a park and swam in a waterfall, watched the pipe masters surf competition on the beautiful North Shore beaches, enjoyed lunch from Hawaiian food trucks, spent some time in a beautiful bay, took a tour at Kualoa Ranch, the rest of our family visited a macadamia nut farm while they waited for us, then we got dropped off at a mall to visit the Asian Market for dinner while the rest of my family was safely brought back to their hotel! The experience and memories we made on this tour are priceless and we have Mike to thank for that!!!!

Covered so much in just two days

We covered so much in just two days and it’s just a shame we couldn’t stay for more than one week in Oahu. Such an amazing day
Such an amazing day (amazing doesn’t even cut it) was spend with Michael from Hali’a Tours. We were 2 families travelling together with 5 young kids between us. Michael was great with the kids and we were able to see the sights we were interested in at our own pace. I am not usually one to spend the time writing reviews (well with the kids its just because I don’t have the time) but Hali’a tours deserves a 5 star rating. The highlight of our vacation!
Michael was an unexpected addition to our trip to Wakiki and turned out to be the highlight of our vacation! He is so kind and polite! He ensured that we experienced everything we have heard about in O’ahu and added more of his own known hidden treasures. I highly recommend Halia Tours
Had a wonderful time on one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. Michael was very informed about the island and very professional in providing a great tour for his patrons. He had put together a great agenda for us to see all of the things he recommends while still building flexibility into the schedule so we could see anything we had a passion for. The trip was timed out perfectly to best avoid crowds as well as long stints stuck in traffic. At one point our group was found to be surrounded by more sea turtles than people on the beach! Best tour for visiting Oahu!
Best tour for visiting Oahu! We did the sunrise to sunset tour for 4 adults, worth every penny! We had Michael as the tour guide who was amazing! We had some spots in mind but he showed us so much more than we could have imagined! We made several stops for food every place he took us to was local spot we would have never found on our own. We had plenty of restroom stops all day long. Ask him to take you to the best pineapple spot -hint**-it’s not the dole plantation We learned so much history along the way. Would recommend him to anyone looking to see the island and learn about Hawai’i!!

Fantastic private island tour
Just wanted to drop a quick note to say Maholo for our fantastic private island tour last Fri (April 6th). Michael was a PERFECT fit for our family. Kept a great watch over our kids in the water and otherwise! We felt VERY safe with him leading us around. So many tucked away spots, sea turtles, food stops, all the while managing to avoid rain and find the sunshine! I’m recommending this tour group to everyone I know with plans to visit Hawaii! When we come back, someday, we will surely hit you up, again!

Cannot recommend Halia Tours enough
Wow wow wow what a day! Cannot recommend Hali’a tours enough if your visiting Oahu. We had a customised all day tour and saw the whole East and North side of beautiful Oahu. We were taken to some of the most amazing places, too many to name them all! Began the day at Diamond Head watching the sunrise, stopping all along the way at picturesque lookouts-The Blowhole, swam at Waimea falls, wandered the tranquil Valley of the Temples, so many gorgeous beaches-Northshore Pipeline, Waimea Bay, Sunset beach, lunch at the world famous Giovanni’s, Sea turtles, viewed the Sunset from yet another perfect beach, toured pineapple and macadamia farms and Kualoa Ranch. Believe it or not that wasn’t even the whole tour! — in Oahu.

Second to none.
Most awesome day. Our first trip to Hawaii and just happened to meet Michael across from our hotel. Couldnt turn down what he had to offer so booked him for the following day. Early start at Waikiki visited all the spots I wanted to see including Pearl harbour then off around the island stopping at beautiful iconic spots ending up back in Waikiki at sun set. One day personal tour with Halia
We took a one-day personal tour with Halia Tours of the North Shore and East Coast of Oahu. Mike was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and yet very funny. He accommodated our requests to see certain places, as well as taking us to places that he knew we would enjoy. It was a very enjoyable day. We would definitely recommend Halia Tours to anyone interested in a personal tour.

Nothing but positive vibes
Very satisfied with our private circle tour. Our guide Michael was very knowledgeable of the island as well as the history of the Hawaiian culture. He also took the time to ask the group if there was anything else we wanted to see or do. As a plus he even catered to my daughters request to see a turtle. During our lunch he even insisted on waiting for our food. His exact words where “your on vacation, I can bring the food to you. Enjoy this time away with no worries.” My father in-law was surprised that he actually picked us up at 5:45 am to take us straight to Pearl Harbor so when can start the day early as well as catch the sun rise on the Harbor. When he found out that my grandfather was stationed in Hawaii during WWII he also will to show us all the bases that he may have been at since I forgot which base it was. Michael was very accommodating. My group had a variety of age ranges. He even asked everyone to wait every time he parked so he may place a step to avoid the large gap from the van to the ground. I like how he would teach us about the ocean and how to spot the breaks and what to do if one gets pulled into the currrent. It was nice to know that he is also a certified lifeguard considering we where on an island surrounded by water. I don’t have anything negative to say about our experience. There’s is nothing but positive vibes that Michael showed us which in my eyes is the Aloha Experience. The island is about good vibes and we experienced that and more on this tour. Our guide Michael is a great ambassador for Hali’a Tours and I would 100% recommend them to all my friends and family. Something that comes to mind every time we are on the island is: ʻo ka lā e ala aʻe a hoʻonohonohoʻia keʻike ponoʻia ma ka wai Mahalo nui aʻike hou iāʻoe
