About the Bishop Museum

Want a deeper connection to Hawaii’s people and past? The Bishop Museum is one of the most powerful ways to learn the true story of these islands. Scroll down for answers to common questions and tips to help plan your visit.

Bishop Museum is at 1525 Bernice Street off the Likelike Highway, just a short drive from Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, and the airport. It’s easy to reach by car and a convenient stop on your private tour itinerary.
Unlike general natural history museums, the Bishop Museum focuses entirely on Hawaii and the Pacific. Its collections are deeply tied to the people and landscapes of these islands, offering rare artifacts, traditional tools, and immersive storytelling you won’t find elsewhere.
Open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (closed Tuesdays and major holidays). Morning visits are usually quieter and allow more time to explore the exhibits before lunch or your next destination.
Admission must be purchased separately. While reservations are not required, buying tickets in advance during busy seasons or catching a planetarium show is a good idea. Tickets are available on the museum’s website.
Standard museum etiquette applies. No flash photography, food, or drinks inside exhibit halls. The museum grounds are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed (service animals are welcome).
