About Punchbowl Cemetery

Punchbowl’s highlights include the Courts of the Missing and the Honolulu Memorial.  You will find the names of an additional 28,788 service members lost or buried at sea.

It’s a place of reflection and honor, paying tribute to American heroes from the second half of the last Century.

In addition to being featured in Hawaii Five-0 and other productions, it’s one of the most visually striking and emotionally powerful places on Oahu. All set within a peaceful volcanic crater.

Punchbowl is located just above Downtown Honolulu in the Puowaina Crater. It’s a short drive from Iolani Palace and Waikiki, and a common inclusion on Pearl Harbor and city tours with Your Private Tours. But unless you have family buried here, please inform us beforehand.

The Veterans Affairs office has tour vehicles drive through without stopping.

Its location inside a volcanic crater gives it stunning natural surroundings, while the memorials and military tributes are profoundly moving. It honors the fallen and those missing in action, making it one of the most important veterans’ cemeteries in the United States.
The cemetery is open daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Morning or late afternoon drives offer softer light and quieter surroundings. Visits are drive-through only for tour guests, in accordance with cemetery rules.
No reservation is required to enter the cemetery, and there is no entrance fee. If you wish to locate a specific grave or honor a loved one, please let us know ahead of time so we can assist with arrangements.
Guests must stay in the vehicle during drive-through tours. Quiet, respectful behavior is expected. Photography is allowed from the vehicle, but no drone use is permitted. This is an active cemetery. Please treat the space with care and reverence.
