Hanauma Bay sits on Oahu’s southeast corner, about 25–30 minutes from Waikiki by car. You’ll follow Kalanianaole Highway past Koko Head. Just keep an eye out for the signs. Parking is limited and fills early, so getting there when the gates open is your best bet.

Please do not block the highway waiting to get in, just circle back around or find alternate arrangements.

This place isn’t just a beach, it’s a protected marine sanctuary. The reef here is thriving, and the rules in place help keep it that way. That means fewer crowds, less noise, and a more mindful kind of beach day.

It’s also one of the few places on Oahu where snorkeling from shore feels like you’re swimming in an aquarium.

Hanauma Bay is generally open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, from 6:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (last entry). Everyone has to be out by 4 p.m. But it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays to give the fish, reef, and staff a couple of days off.
